Chelsea Ballet Summer School and Winter Workshop

In the summer of 2005 I wanted to attend a summer school but struggled to find anything for my age group. All the summer schools were designed for kids, professional students and professional dancers. I eventually found the ideal summer school ..... in America. After adding up all the costs of getting there, attending and living it was way out of my price range. It was then that I thought “why not organise my own summer school”. So over a bottle of Rose I hatched the plan with two friends from Chelsea Ballet and we started to plan a timetable and the logistics.

It was always my intention that the school would be small so that people would have the opportunity to mix and make friends. I also wanted people to receive more attention from the teachers, which can be difficult with large classes. I think I can safely say this has been achieved and it is great to see the same faces returning year after year. I take no payment for organising this School. I do it because I want to. Instead I am rewarded by seeing how people have improved with each visit - not only in technique but also in confidence.

I myself trained professionally and now teach and I go away with a lot more knowledge, which I pass onto my own students.

The summer school is open to anyone over the age of 18 with an elementary and above standard of ballet who would like the chance to work on technique and performance quality in a friendly and supportive environment and receive correction and advice from the teaching staff.

Please note that the school and workshop are not suitable for beginners.

Dates: Monday, 12th - Saturday, 17th August 2024
Venue: Studios at the Central School of Ballet, 21-22 Hatfields, Paris Garden, London SE1 8DJ
Faculty: Bethany Ramsey, Laura Hussey, Paola Manfredi and Richard Ramsey

The timetable will include Pilates, Ballet, Pointework & Repertoire, Contemporary, and Stretch.
